To our valued customers,
The year has ended and we hope that everyone has had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. The year 2009 was a very challenging year for us as well as our customers. We hope that this coming year will bring better times and prosperity to all of us, and hope that those most deeply impacted by the economic struggles brought forth in this economy will be able to emerge from them and have happier times ahead.
During the past year we were able to hold down and fight off our increasing operating costs by working with suppliers, and improving our facilities to be more energy efficient. However, most unfortunate, the City of Laconia and the State of NH could not bring themselves to the same challenge that businesses have to, and hence raised their taxes. Most unfortunate because all of our efforts to not raise our rates to assist struggling families to be able to take vacation have been whisked away the relentless free will spending that our City and State officials seem to operate on. So it is with uneasiness we must announce that yes we will have rate increases this year. We were able to maintain our rates last year, and did so with the hope that this would not happen, but unfortunately we are not able to absorb the increases levied on our business this coming season.
With that said we evaluated all of our options and raised our rates by the minimum that we could yet still try to make vacationing affordable. We are still able to offer most accommodations for less than $100/night, which under the circumstances we feel is an achievement in itself giving the current economic climate. We still have overnight cottages at $75/night during the summer and none of our weekly rentals exceed $900/week.
For most people this year will be more important than ever to take time to wind down, especially if it has been more than a year since your last vacation. It will be a time to relax and be together under less stressful times as a family to regain the bonds and family camaraderie that may have slipped during the last year struggling with the pressures of work and the economy. Or maybe perhaps come for a bit of solitude so very much deserved. What better place to do this but in the Lakes Region where the air and the water is clear, the mountains are majestic, and the nights are yet peaceful. We invite everyone to come to the Lakes Region to experience summers gone by and to regain those cherished memories called vacation.
We hope to see you soon.
